Monster Cable iCarPlay iPod Cassette Adapter (AI CAS-ADPT)

Monster Cable iCarPlay iPod Cassette Adapter (AI CAS-ADPT) Reviews

Well my Monster iCarPlay finally bit the dust after four years. Yes, I do know how to use it. I routinely check my iPod's sound level before attaching it to the adapter. Oh and so you'll know my 60gb iPod Photo just bit the dust as well. Happy owner of a new 120gb iPod now. But I digress. Figured Amazon would be as good a place as any for the replacement because I plan to order a few other items at the same time. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the preponderance of the reviews for this product are at the lowest possible level. I decided I better look at others, I selected a Sony and a Phillips. Both have about 25% of their ratings at the lowest level. The descriptions of the sound quality with both though were underwhelming to me. So I am back to the iCarPlay because the previous one provided excellent sound quality, no extraneous sounds and worked well in my car. Of course I wish the cable hadn't frayed at the plug, but things to wear out, especially as rough as I treat them. By the way I would have rated this at 4 Stars but I haven't been able to rate anything on Amazon for over a month no matter which browser I use.

Audio quality good, mechanical quality poor - Peter Hunt - Mountain View, CA USA
I bought a Monster cassette adapter for my wife. I already have one of another brand for my own car, and have been very happy with it, so I expected no surprises with this one.br /br /The sound quality was fine through the car stereo, but the cassette adapter made a loud clicking sound which was very distracting, and could be heard continuously over the music. I ejected the adapter and just turned the sprockets with my fingers, and sure enough, the interlocking gears in the adapter itself were causing the noise.br /br /I put it back in to the cassette player and fast-forwarded, rewound, and just let it run, to see if the mechanism settled into a different, less noisy position. No such luck.br /br /So back it goes.br /br /If Monster had paid a bit more attention to the mechanical quality of the adapter, I'm sure I would have been satisfied with it. But I will be purchasing a replacement from another manufacturer.br /

Cassette adapter for iPod - Terry R. Gruver - Gainesville, FL
This works great in theory, but the connection between the cassette deck head and this adapter leaves much to be desired. Many songs are muffled too much and the volume when you switch back to the regular radio just about blows you out of the car. I get way too much bass and way too little treble. The next (newer) car I get will have a direct input of some sort for iPod.br /br /Over all, it is a good quick and dirty way to play your music over an old (1995 Covvette) cassette deck. With the top down...who cares about fidelity? (the music type.... that is) ;)

Tuning fails when it gets warm - Forest Glenn - San Francisco, CA USA
I was happy with it initially, but the tuning started to go out intermittently. I discovered that tuning problem was due to the unit getting warm. This is a serious design flaw since the unit is black and gets warm in the sun. Being a "sport" device, it should be able to function outdoors.

Get what you pay for - Cynthia A. Bielinski - Mke WI
I only had this item a approx 10 days when the clips that hold the radio to the arm band have broke. The radio is okay for it's size and some stations are hard to hear due to static. It is definately an item that could use some improvement but for the cost it's okay.

Sony DEJ017CK Walkman Portable CD Player w/ Car Accessories

Sony DEJ017CK Walkman Portable CD Player w/ Car Accessories Reviews

One of the reviewers on here mentioned the crappy sound with the cassette adapter, but I found it to work beautifully in my 1995 Miata. I didn't have to turn it way up either. Simple to look at - looks like a miniature Roomba - and works great. The only drawback is that I also have a GPS I can't live without, so I have to use the batteries on the CD player instead of the cigarette lighter hook-up. But I use this little sucker every day on my 37 minute drive to Moorpark to ride my horse, and it's a wonderful item. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. And you just can't beat Amazon's shipping: I ordered it on Tuesday about 3 p.m. and it got here the next day. I'm very impressed with both. :D

poor customer service - One disappointed customer -
Well hello. You will be sorry that you FINALLY contacted me. I did make the walkman purchase online. It came in a timely fashion. It was a little pricey for the poor quality of the product you sent. I also realized it did not have a radio with it. There was no return label or any information at all in the box with the item. It was frustrating to first make a call to someone that directed me to go to the internet where I wrote a letter asking for info on how to return the item. I did receive an email telling me to go to "paste this and go here or there and do this or that". What a nightmare!!!! I hadn't even opened the thing!!! It was so frustrating that I just gave it away and will not order from you again. Next time, do the customer a favor, put return information and phone numbers IN THE BOX with the item. This was very very poor customer service. Makes us truly believe that you make it as difficult as possible to return and get money back once we are sucked in with the product. We just give up in frustration. It worked. I did. br /br /Hope this helps the next customer somehow. Give this note to the CEO I'm sure he'll pat everyone on the back and reward all for this wonderful scheme you've got going. Thank you Eleanor br /

RCA RCP268 Personal FM Radio with Cassette Player

RCA RCP268 Personal FM Radio with Cassette Player Reviews

O.k., after having a Sony tape player that lasted 5 yrs my husband gave me when we got together stopped working (kind of works, sometimes) right, I really needed another cassette player to take with me on the go. I don't like i-pods and the like, I've tried them, and I just don't like anything about them. So, off to find a cassette player I went :) A couple of weeks ago, I came across a Jensen, and got that, after a week it just stopped. I don't want to pay a whole lot for a cassette player, all I wanted was one that could at least ``play`` if nothing else. So, after the Jensen player stopped, well, dang-it, I still needed one. So, I came across this RCA one. I love it, and it plays my tapes, and plays them nicely and LOUD, just how I love it!!!!! I gave it a 4-star instead of a 5-star due to the fact that (even though there is no Rewind button, yes, I knew that, stated in description) the FastForward button, the slowwwwwwwwwww-est fast forwarding I've EVER seen, so make sure you listen to a tape you don't have to fast-forward nothing. This was also a problem with the previous Jensen player I bought before this RCA. If any other problems arise, I will update my review. But, this RCA player DOES PLAY, and does so very nicely :) So, I'm happy!!!br /br /*The description states it takes 2 AAA, it does not. It takes 2 AA. Just making that correction, if it is o.k.? :)br /br /** 3 months later... still MORE than satisfied!!!! :) Out of all tape walk-mans I've ever owned, this 1 is ``BY FAR`` the BEST, especially for the money. Batteries, I've noticed last a good long while in this tape player, as well!!!! Only problem is the slow FF, but I've already talked about that ;)

Better than nothing - simusioux -
I am extremely dissatisfied with this item. Upon first use, I discovered that it plays the tapes slightly too slow. I accidently dropped the unit, which caused it to begin playing tapes slightly too fast. I use it for walking and it is better than nothing but I would not recommend this item. Pay the extra money and get something else.

Perfect for walkers - LJM - Kentucky
This is perfect for my daily exercise. This portable cassette is so much better then having a portable CD player (which always seems to skip). The expense was very low and very good for daily walks.

Sony RDR-VX521 DVD Recorder Vcr Combo

Sony RDR-VX521 DVD Recorder Vcr Combo Reviews

Simple, easy, nice unit by Sony. Having many video tapes that needed to be transferred, I tried my computer but it was cumbersome to do the transfers. This allows easy transfer to DVD using any format including DVD-RW for recording tv shows. My only complaint is the unit does not allow you to name your DVD so when you pop in into your computer, it comes up with the stock Sony name. Minor complaint because you can still edit and name the video via the unit on screen so when it sees a DVD player, you know what is on the DVD. Let's hope the prices keep coming down! Not used. Not refurbished. But brand new in factory sealed box. Full manufacturer's warranty. From 30 days up to one year returns policy. Same day shipping even on weekend and will provide the tracking number.

dont buy this one - W. Eason -
Next time I buy ANYTHING from Sam's Club I will pay for the warranty.br /Used to be you could expect reasonable service from a new product--notbr /anymore. Very light use, just getting to learn how to work the machinebr /and it started eating VHS tapes, some old and priceless to me. Stupidly,br /I thought it was the age of the cassettes. Then it got to eating every single VHS I put in it, even new ones. Tried the "eaten" tapes in severalbr /older VHS machines and they worked just fine, even worked with the crinkledbr /sections that I rewound. Wonder if this was produced in China for Sony?

Another bad experience - Todd Vachon - Philadelphia, PA USA
I purchased this VCR/DVD recorder for it's ability to dub family videos to DVD and to allow my children to watch old movies we have on tape. It began sporadically eating VHS tapes after 6 months of light use. When calling for warranty service (it has a decently long warranty, I will admit-1 year and 180 days PL-much better than many electronics which offer 90 days), it took over an hour on hold just to get the address of a repair center and a work order number. Seems like they may be sorry for offering that warranty now. Of course you will need to pay to ship your unit in for repair out of your own pocket, not to mention the inconvenience of the shipping and being without a unit you paid good money for. If you purchase it, I highly recommend you keep your receipt and original packaging handy! br /br / Sony isn't the Sony of old. My recent experience has been that their products just don't hold up like they used to. Caveat Emptor.

Good for Cassettes - Gina -
I was extremely happy with the two-day shipping that I received from Buy.com. I purchased this because my mom gave me some old cassettes (treasured memories). The only problem that I have is that you can't play "burned" CDs but since I brought this for the purpose of cassettes I'm happy.
