This is a hard to find baby. Auto reverse seems to be almost a thing purely of the past in tape players and it also has one heck of a powerful digital radio tuner built in to rival even a 0 Sony Home Theater's...or rather beat it hands down for pulling in hard to get stations without having a 30 foot high roof antenna.br /br /I don't know who manufactures what or where anymore but I know I remember arguing with Sony purists back in the day that nothing beat a Sony some who said that Sony made Aiwa or owned it Aiwa was to "Walkmen" basically a Dodge vs. a Chrysler was to cars back when some people were nuts enough to spend their hard earned money on either if they were hell bent on buying American when this man's experience said there are great foreign cars and there is Ford then a lot of American made crap. br /br /I've always been a researching nut when it comes to buying anything from autos down to toasters I recently found a few cassette transcriptions of still out of never released to CD LP's but had no way to transcribe them to digital short of buying some ridiculously expensive task specific B.S. machine "Special" program.br /So having still had a beat up 30 year old Aiwa that still worked by had no AC adapter jack with virtually tens of thousands of hours of use on it's poor old motor, sand from many beach trips, memories of a few dozen drops to the pavement of the streets of NYC, despite still working, it's speed accuracy is variable once the batteries have a few hours on them.br /br /Well, I started searching hither yon on the Internet eBay but then thought of just coming to my 1 stop shopping place. DUH.br /So, here I came looking to see what might still be available of course, having had only 2 Aiwa's (after owning the 1st Sony Walkman original as they each lasted over 6 years each despite constant non-stop use during those pre, "Discman/i-Pod years" when I couldn't walk, work or chew gum without music. Two Walkmen died after less than a year of use. And after buying, trying returning a few of the 2nd 3rd models that followed the initial one I found Aiwa which I understand at some point was bought by Sony if I'm not mistaken, somewhere along the line became a more solid performer or perhaps I'm remembering them fondly because as is the case with so many electronics companies like appliance automakers, you might be driving a Ford but it's really a Lincoln in less expensive clothes or if spend 3K on a Kitchen Aid refrigerator (or Maytag or Kenmore) you're still buying a WHIRLPOOL.br /br /What world of intrigue there is to navigate just to make a piece of toast or iron a shirt not have to replace the damn thing every 12 months.br /br /If I still had the couple of hundred cassettes I could kick myself for having tossed years ago, I'd buy another two of these just in case it does wear out.br /br /PLUS*** This takes a standard 3 Volt AC adapter you can get one that takes changeable tips to fit any appliance. So take if from me...never throw away those ubiquitous AC adapters that come with just about everything from phones to shavers. They have adapter tips you can find all over the Internet aside from just Radio Shack I've never had to buy one as I have a drawer full in every possible voltage. It's not rocket science. You do not have to buy one specially made for any particular device. Just know the required voltage. There's a free tip to save you from putting your share of thousands of batteries in the landfills because if you're using it at home, whatever IT is. If it has an AC jack you'll spend less on electricity than on batteries and help to stoppoisoning the groundwater. Rechargeable batteries are find but they vary wildly in quality length of life you still have to keep them in a charger always to keep them fully charged STILL they end up in landfills.br /br /So there's my 2 1/2 cents on shopping for gadgets the environment.
